About Autsos

Plain explanations, with the sources attached.

What Autsos is

Autsos publishes explainers on how everyday things work: why metal feels colder than wood, why a phone screen flickers when dimmed, why a printer can't copy a banknote. Topics cover tech, cars, science, nature, health, home and money. Each post starts from something you've noticed and explains what's happening underneath it.

Who runs it

Autsos is written and edited by Kituu Mark, based in Kenya. I'm a software engineer with a long list of "but why?" questions. Autsos is where I answer them properly, with sources.

How each post is made

  • I start from primary sources: peer-reviewed papers, standards bodies, regulators, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Every figure and factual claim traces to a source I've read, and the sources are listed at the end of the post.
  • If I do my own calculation, the post says so and shows the working.
  • A manufacturer's claim is presented as a claim, not as established fact.
  • Where evidence is limited, disputed, or comes from one study or one product, the post says that plainly instead of generalising.
  • Health and money posts rely on official and peer-reviewed sources only.

What Autsos doesn't do

Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice. Posts explain how things work. They don't tell you what to do about your own health, money or property. For that, talk to a qualified professional.

Corrections

If something is wrong or out of date, tell me. I'll fix it and note the change on the post. You can reach me through the contact page or at hello@autsos.com.

Ads and independence

Autsos may show ads served by an ad network. Advertisers don't see or influence posts before they're published, and there are no sponsored articles or affiliate-driven recommendations. If that ever changes, the affected posts will say so at the top.
